After my success at Jever SUP World Cup I’ve been given one of 10 invite only entries to the first ever indoor SUP sprint race!… how stoked am I! I’m even featured on the poster 🙂
Lights, Camera, Action. A pumping sound system, spotlights and a 70 metre long pool, smack bang in the middle of the 2011 London Boat Show will be the location for the first ever Indoor Sprint Challenge.
15th -16th January will see two sprint sessions being held in the purpose built pool at the ExCeL exhibition centre in London. The racing will be fast paced and very close as the best paddlers in the UK as well as a few international personalities battle it out under spotlights and to a pumping sound track. Tight mark roundings and photo finishes will have you on the edge of your seat in the 1000 seat arena.
The pool is 70 meters long and 25 meters wide. During the duration of the boat show there will be “Have a Go” SUP sessions for the public to get involved with, maximising SUP’s exposure to the masses.
There will be 10 invited male paddlers (of which I am one) and 4 invited female paddlers who will gain direct entry into the event due to their ranking in other SUP race events and their general calibre. These names will be released in the coming days.
Adding to the list will be a small selection of euro/international paddlers.
Come and support the event.

There will be a qualifying event on the Friday night to select some more entrants. This will be open to everyone. Boards and paddles will be provided so you could easily jump on a train and get a paddle on the pool and stand a chance of getting through to the main event. We also hope to have a little knees up on the Friday night for all involved. Successful qualifiers will get full backstage passes, Hotel Accommodation and Lunch on Saturday and Sunday.
